Braces – Straighten Your Smile with Confidence

Do crooked or misaligned teeth make you feel self-conscious when speaking or smiling? Do you wish you had a straighter, more attractive smile? If so, dental braces may be the right solution for you.

What Are Dental Braces?

Dental braces are an orthodontic treatment designed to gently move teeth into their proper position. By applying consistent, controlled pressure, braces gradually align teeth, improve bite function, and enhance facial aesthetics.

Who Can Benefit from Braces?

Braces are an excellent option for children, teens, and adults who want to correct alignment and bite issues. At Harsono Dental, our experienced team uses braces to treat:

  • General Misalignment – Braces can correct mild to complex orthodontic problems.

  • Crowded Teeth – Crowding can cause oral health issues such as gum disease or decay; braces create proper spacing.

  • Excessive Gaps – Braces close unwanted spaces between teeth (diastemas) for better function and appearance.

  • Open Bite – Corrects cases where the upper and lower teeth don’t meet when the mouth is closed.

  • Deep Bite – Treats excessive vertical overlap of the upper and lower teeth.

  • Crossbite – Aligns teeth that don’t meet correctly in the horizontal plane.

What Is the Process of Getting Braces?

The process is simple but requires careful planning:

  1. Initial Consultation & Treatment Planning – During your first visit, we perform a thorough exam, take digital X-rays and models, and design a personalized treatment plan.

  2. Bonding the Brackets – Small orthodontic brackets are attached to your teeth and connected with wires and elastics. These components work together to guide your teeth into alignment.

How Do Braces Work?

Each bracket holds a wire that connects your teeth. By adjusting the wire’s tension, your dentist applies steady pressure to move teeth gradually.

You’ll return for follow-up visits every 4–6 weeks, where we’ll adjust the wires, replace elastics, and monitor your progress. Over time, your teeth shift step by step until they reach their ideal alignment.

Orthodontic Retention

Once your braces are removed, you’ll transition to retainers. According to the American Association of Orthodontists, retainers (either fixed or removable) help maintain your new smile by preventing teeth from shifting back.

How Long Does Treatment Take?

Treatment time varies depending on your age, the complexity of your case, and how well you follow care instructions. On average:

  • Mild to moderate cases: 6–12 months

  • Moderate to complex cases: 18–24 months or longer

Our team will provide an estimated timeline after initial consultation.
